OSHA has developed guidelines and procedures for dealing with bloodborne pathogens in the workplace. While the number of new HIV cases diagnosed has been on the decline over the past decade, more than 1.2 million people in the U.S. are living with HIV, and one in eight of them don’t know it. This course prepares first responders to work safely and protect themselves from exposure to a bloodborne pathogen, such as hepatitis or HIV.
This course discusses various bloodborne pathogens and diseases and it shows how exposures in first response environments can occur. Addressing the OSHA requirements and regulations, this course walks through the exposure control plan, and various methodologies to reduce exposure. The latter half of the course talks about personal protection equipment (PPE) to reduce exposure, the importance of obtaining vaccinations and accidental exposures.
Use this course among your employees within a first response environment in order to keep yourself and the public as safe and as healthy as possible.
