Overview

This online video training course educates crewmembers of inland vessels about the dangers of man overboard incidents. This video teaches viewers safe work practices, survival and rescue techniques, how to delay hypothermia in cold water, and other skills and techniques to increase the chance of a man overboard being rescued.

A recent Coastguard American Waterways Operators Study reported 83% of work-related fatalities on inland waterway vessels occurred from a man overboard incident. These incidents are typically caused by lack of training, lack of planning, ignoring company policies and procedures, failure to recognize hazards, and other similar preventable situations.

Man overboard incidences are highly preventable. In the case of a man overboard incident, a properly trained crew can significantly reduce the possibility of an incident becoming a fatality. Use this online training video to demonstrate to your crew the causes of man overboard incidents, safe work practices to prevent accidents, and the survival and rescue techniques to effectively respond to an accident.
