Workplace fires occur more than many people think. Therefore, the knowledge of how to use a fire extinguisher may come in handy when responding to a fire. This safety training course teaches the California OSHA requirements for the use, placement, maintenance, and testing of portable fire extinguishers.
Viewers learn how in California employers have the choice of whether to provide portable fire extinguishers in the workplace. If extinguishers are not provided, employers must provide a fire safety plan, and employees must immediately evacuate the building when the fire alarm is sounded. If employers provide extinguishers, they are required to train designated employees on how to use them.
This course demonstrates the four steps to using a fire extinguisher: pull the pin; aim the nozzle at the base of the fire; squeeze the trigger to discharge the extinguishing agent; and sweep the nozzle from side to side while aiming at the base of the fire.
Viewers learn about the different classes of fire, the types of fire extinguishers, and the importance of inspecting and maintaining extinguishers.
Take this safety training course to learn how to be better prepared for workplace fires and comply with CAL/OSHA.
